I Can Buy Myself Flowers | Thoughts About Strong, Independent Women 💪🏾
Happy International Women's Month to All the Strong Women! 💖
Hey there,
Welcome back to my hodgepodge of a newsletter!
First, I want to greet all the women out there a Happy International Women’s Month!
Okay, going back.
It’s been a while since I last wrote, and it feels like a decade has passed. I’ve been contemplating on how to write this letter because I wanted it to resonate with my mantra for 2023. Ever since I heard Miley Cyrus’ Flowers, I knew that it’s going to be my 2023 song. I’ve been LSS and hyperfocused on listening to it for weeks.
Unfiltered thoughts about strong, independent women 🤔
I’ve been thinking about how strong, independent women have been perceived in the past decades. Some may feel insecure about it, especially if they feel it hurts their ego that they don’t feel wanted. But, in all honesty, women had it differently, especially in some male-dominated industries or career paths. The world has been making progress in embracing diversity, equity, and inclusivity, and kudos to that!
However, there are times that in relationships, some insecurities are born, especially if the woman partner is earning more or doing better than the hetero-male partner. I’ve seen this dynamic in some TV series, and it got me thinking. Why do some partners feel insecure if their partner is earning more than them? Shouldn’t they be happy that their significant others have been rewarded for their hard work?
Nevertheless, there are some couples that don’t have this dynamic. I applaud that. Fortunately, in my case, even if I’m such a hustler, all thanks to my Taurus-Taurus-Capricorn energies (Sun-Moon-Rising signs), my life partner is such a hype-man. Even if I’m struck with impostor syndrome sporadically, he always reassures and supports me through and through. I honestly think that should be the case so that your relationship is healthy. Right?
Blog updates 🥳
In other news, I’ve scheduled around four blogs to be published later this March and early April. I never thought I could do it, especially with my day job and freelance work. But this I know, it’s nice to have an outlet that lets you share your thoughts that may help other people.
But here’s the latest blog post:

Studying or Geeking Out on
Digital marketing courses on Coursera – I’m still waiting on some of my scholarship applications, since I finished my social media marketing course (a five-week course) within one week.
ChatGPT 4 – Yes, I’ve been studying this platform since it was introduced to me at work. Honestly, I love the new model, though it’s slower than the 3.5 model. It’s an impressive tool that helps me brainstorm on ideas I need at work. I even subscribed, and the benefits are outstanding. I recommend it as an assistant, but don’t totally depend on it. 😉
Games
Genshin Impact – I’m saving up for Nahida, the Dendro Archon. I got C2 Cyno within 27-28, pity! ⭐
Honkai Impact 3rd – Yes, I’m back playing this game after around 2–3 months of hiatus. I now have Raiden Mei as the Herrscher of Origin. Its story has come to a conclusion, I think, and I’m awed by the character developments I witnessed. The writing is superb, and I’ll recommend this game to anyone who likes action, story-rich, and controller support.
Breakout 13 – I played this last week and I finished the first five chapters already. It’s also story-rich, filled with choices that affect the entire plot. If you played Bandersnatch or Late Shift, the gameplay is similar to that.
Ori, The Will of the Wisps – I was gifted the first part of the game, and I love this one so much! I love how relevant the story is to what’s happening in our environment. When you start playing this, you’ll get a tearjerker prologue which speaks the truth of what’s going on with our climate. It gives a glimpse of what’s to come if we don’t start taking care of our dear Mother Earth. This game received an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam, so I recommend this game too.
Quixotic: A Book of Poetry
My book is on pre-order on Amazon. It took me more than a decade to find the courage to compile all my compositions into a book. I’d like to thank all my creative friends, especially
and Celine, who have always been my source of inspiration to write and compose. Both of you have given me the spark to try writing way back in high school up to now. If not for your school publication works, blogs, and random compositions, I won’t find the strength and courage to try this out.Quixotic: A Collection of Poetry is a deeply personal and emotionally resonant book of poems that explores the many facets of love and relationships. Through a series of powerful, heart-wrenching verses, the author delves into the complexities of romantic love, including the joy and ecstasy of falling in love, the heartaches, and struggles of breakups and endings, and the bittersweet memories of past relationships.
What else?
I wanted to ask if what topics would you like to hear on my unfiltered podcast? I’m still brainstorming on what topics should we cover (now, I feel it’s like a school project. 🤣)
On the top of my mind, I’m thinking about mental health, career, adulting, finance (wow, financial adviser?), and geeking out about almost anything.
Please don’t be shy in dropping your suggestions in the comments or by messaging me. I love to hear your thoughts!
P.S. Pledging support for this publication through Substack isn’t available due to my location. If you want to support, you can tip or donate through Ko-fi.
