Mid-July Life Lately Entry 💪🏽
Getting NBI Clearance quickly, repeat performance for septum piercing, and more. Are you ready?
Hello there, awesome souls! 💖
How have you been?
Currently, I just finished playing Honkai Star Rail and thought of doing a mid-month life lately entry that you didn’t ask for. 🤣
Playing games has been one of the activities that I didn’t see myself liking before. I only have one game that I never get tired of no matter what, and that’s The Sims 4. Even when I was still using a MacBook, it’s the game that I never uninstalled.
Anyway, games are a good way of de-stressing, igniting your creativity, and widening your imagination. Throughout the games that I’ve been playing, it tickles my mind differently and is mentally stimulating too. It gives me that dopamine boost that I’ve been craving since my brain cannot adequately produce for myself.
Another thing about games, I become more in-touch with myself. I notice myself doing the main quest and suddenly gets distracted with a side quest lurking around the map or the game. Honestly, that frequently happens to me when I play Genshin Impact. Oh, I just love the husbandos there, and also the waifus!
Going back, here are some of the notable things during the first three weeks of July plus some days:
My resignation from my previous work was finalized. (It was a long and tedious process because their methods are so ancient. They don’t even use Docusign for signatories.)
I lost a freelance work that I’ve been doing for more than a year now. (This is different from PC Guide.)
I got appreciated for the work that I’ve been doing with PC Guide (my current freelance work). They’ve complimented me with the featured images that I’ve been creating for the articles that I’ve been optimizing and publishing.
I also got commended for the exclusive interview that I did with Writesonic’s CEO, Samanyou Garg. (I was anxious about this interview if it was going to be a call or what not. Good thing, they were accommodating about doing a questionnaire type of interview. Moreover, it’s very heart-warming that Samanyou shared our article on his LinkedIn profile and mentioned me.)
I’m sleeping better now. I don’t experience chest pains nor insomnia. Though, there are times that I couldn’t sleep because I ran out of my meds. 💤
I’m going to start with my new work next week! 😇 I’m grateful to the universe and G for giving me this opportunity, and for not leaving me astray. The company also sent brand-new stuff like a new keyboard and mouse combo, a new monitor, and new headphones. The laptop they sent me was already used, which I understand.
I got my NBI clearance so quickly. I’m crediting my PWD ID here and also the good website of NBI. Honestly, among all the government websites in the Philippines, theirs is the most functional.
Sadly, my septum piercing closed. The man at the NBI asked me to remove my septum piercing for the photo. I tried putting it back myself, but couldn’t find the hole. After 3 days, I went back to my lovely piercer back at Needle Juice, and heard the bad news. It closed and had to be re-pierced again, so I went on the procedure. After getting it back, I felt like my old self again! ✨
I asked the heart part of our engagement ink to be retouched. It got wiped by Dakila during one of our playtime sessions. It’s so fortunate that my favorite tattoo artist, Sean, was there at Needle Juice too! 🥳
Here are some productivity things that I’ve been doing:
I’m ecstatic about using and incorporating Reclaim AI. I’m using it as my main planner for things, and so happy about its integration with Asana. My planner includes tracking and plotting my habits, so I don’t miss them. Some of those include drinking meds, doing my skincare routine, reading on my Kindle, and of course plotting focus sessions for work, studies, and even household chores.
I’m back on track from my reading slump. I took almost two weeks before finishing Will Smith’s book. Not only that, but I felt I lost a bit of my reading juju because J and I were playing It Takes Two, which is really an enjoyable game.
I’m back to doing my skincare routine, and never missed a day yet. I was enthused by my dear friend, Marie, to get back on-track with taking care of my skin aside from visiting the derma for facials and laser treatments.
Wedding planning is also scheduled on a weekly basis, since we’re both working on weekdays. We agreed on blocking a specific time slot, which by the way is plotted on my planner too, to discuss anything related to the big day. I know it feels rigid and might be weird, but it’s better that way than to cram everything months before, right? 🥸
I’m continuing on the third course for my project management certification on Coursera. I’ve been in a slump because I’ve been enjoying my vacation, but I’m going to be back and finish that before my scholarship expires.
Random thoughts on social media:
After doing some articles for PC Guide about Twitter and Meta, I definitely will not be going back to Twitter. My account will still be up, but I won’t use it as a microblog anymore. I can’t even see my friends’ tweets these days because of the pesky ads that feel more intrusive than ever.
I’m hanging out more on Mastodon because I genuinely met fellow geeks that play Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact. Likewise, I’ve also met some Filipinos out there too, which is nice!
I guess I’m more active on Instagram, though I’m not using my public account (@mariaisquixotic) since I dedicated that for work and research purposes only. I keep my conversations on my private account (@mariaredillas) so you can hit me up there!
My Pinterest account is still and will always be my mood board. Though the algorithm changed, it’s still more liberating and gives that creative juice than the other platforms.
